I am looking at a B7800 HST, w/wd, with a LA402 loader and a 5' rotary cutter. The dealer gave me a price of $16000 + tax. No sure if this price is good or bad. I have owned JD for the past 20 years. I priced a new JD 790 4w/d, w/FEL & LX5 cutter for about the same price but I like the HST transmission. The JD dealer is closer but wants to push me into a 4315 which is more money and a larger tractor then I want. Is the Kubota priced right? any other differences between the JD 790 and the Kubota B7800 is should be aware of. This would be my first Kubota while I have owned two JD and been very satisfied with them.

Look into a 4115. It has a couple of goodies the 7800 does not have, like position control, and runs in the same size, weight and HP class as the 7800.

The 4115 also has a stronger hydraulic system than the 790 and is a much more comfortable and modern design. ....

I looked at the JD 4115 and really like the size but did not like the price. With the same equipment it was right at $20,000, which was only about $300 cheaper than the 4315. If I am going to spend that kind of money I would get the 4315. The 4115 was 24 hp, the 790 was 27 hp and the 4315 was 32 hp. Not sure how JD prices those things. The 4315 looks to me like the best deal for the money if I wanted a larger tractor. The 4115 seems to be in the same class as the Kubota B2910 and I can get one of those with a loader and rotary cutter form about $17,000. Have not really looked at the B2910 closely but from what I have been able to read they seem similar. Any major differences? ....

The 2910 is the "full boat" version of the 7800. It is a very nice machine and has a very smooth 4 cylinder engine. Features are similar to the 4115, but with a bit more power. ....

I am not sure of the brand of 5 ft rotor cutter you are getting, but assuming that it a heavy duty model, the price you were quoted is in the ballpark. It seems to be a very fair price not knowing what part of the county you are in, I was quoted almost 16K in the upper midwest for the same tractor loader without the cutter. Don't forget about the details, tire style, tires loaded, engine block heater, reenforced loader top with chain hooks, and a good hat ;). I really think the most important thing is, the dealer, is this person somebody you are comfortable with and will be able to work with after the sale. FYI You can't put a price on a major headache? ....
